What does the Bible Teach about the Trinity?

Question: "What does the Bible teach about the Trinity?"

Answer:
The most difficult thing about the Christian concept of the Trinity is that there is no way to perfectly and completely understand it. The Trinity is a concept that is impossible for any human being to fully understand, let alone explain. God is infinitely greater than we are; therefore, we should not expect to be able to fully understand Him. The Bible teaches that the Father is God, that Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. The Bible also teaches that there is only one God. Though we can understand some facts about the relationship of the different Persons of the Trinity to one another, ultimately, it is incomprehensible to the human mind. However, this does not mean the Trinity is not true or that it is not based on the teachings of the Bible.

The Trinity is one God existing in three Persons. Understand that this is not in any way suggesting three Gods. Keep in mind when studying this subject that the word “Trinity” is not found in Scripture. This is a term that is used to attempt to describe the triune God—three coexistent, co-eternal Persons who make up God. Of real importance is that the concept represented by the word “Trinity” does exist in Scripture. The following is what God’s Word says about the Trinity:

1) There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:41 Corinthians 8:4Galatians 3:201 Timothy 2:5).

2) The Trinity consists of three Persons (Genesis 1:1263:2211:7Isaiah 6:848:1661:1;Matthew 3:16-1728:192 Corinthians 13:14). In Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew plural noun "Elohim" is used. In Genesis 1:263:2211:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for “us” is used. The word "Elohim" and the pronoun “us” are plural forms, definitely referring in the Hebrew language to more than two. While this is not an explicit argument for the Trinity, it does denote the aspect of plurality in God. The Hebrew word for "God," "Elohim," definitely allows for the Trinity.

In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 to see that it is the Son speaking. Matthew 3:16-17describes the event of Jesus' baptism. Seen in this passage is God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 are examples of three distinct Persons in the Trinity.

3) The members of the Trinity are distinguished one from another in various passages. In the Old Testament, “LORD” is distinguished from “Lord” (Genesis 19:24Hosea 1:4). The LORD has a Son (Psalm 2:712Proverbs 30:2-4). The Spirit is distinguished from the “LORD” (Numbers 27:18) and from “God” (Psalm 51:10-12). God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7;Hebrews 1:8-9). In the New Testament, Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17). This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. Consider also all the other times in the Gospels where Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another Person in the Trinity—the Father.

4) Each member of the Trinity is God. The Father is God (John 6:27Romans 1:71 Peter 1:2). The Son is God (John 1:114Romans 9:5Colossians 2:9Hebrews 1:81 John 5:20). The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-41 Corinthians 3:16).

5) There is subordination within the Trinity. Scripture shows that the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Father and the Son, and the Son is subordinate to the Father. This is an internal relationship and does not deny the deity of any Person of the Trinity. This is simply an area which our finite minds cannot understand concerning the infinite God. Concerning the Son see Luke 22:42John 5:36John 20:21, and 1 John 4:14. Concerning the Holy Spirit see John 14:1614:2615:2616:7, and especially John 16:13-14.

6) The individual members of the Trinity have different tasks. The Father is the ultimate source or cause of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6Revelation 4:11); divine revelation (Revelation 1:1); salvation (John 3:16-17); and Jesus' human works (John 5:1714:10). The Father initiates all of these things.

The Son is the agent through whom the Father does the following works: the creation and maintenance of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6John 1:3Colossians 1:16-17); divine revelation (John 1:116:12-15Matthew 11:27Revelation 1:1); and salvation (2 Corinthians 5:19Matthew 1:21John 4:42). The Father does all these things through the Son, who functions as His agent.

The Holy Spirit is the means by whom the Father does the following works: creation and maintenance of the universe (Genesis 1:2Job 26:13Psalm 104:30); divine revelation (John 16:12-15Ephesians 3:52 Peter 1:21); salvation (John 3:6Titus 3:51 Peter 1:2); and Jesus' works (Isaiah 61:1Acts 10:38). Thus, the Father does all these things by the power of the Holy Spirit.

There have been many attempts to develop illustrations of the Trinity. However, none of the popular illustrations are completely accurate. The egg (or apple) fails in that the shell, white, and yolk are parts of the egg, not the egg in themselves, just as the skin, flesh, and seeds of the apple are parts of it, not the apple itself. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not parts of God; each of them is God. The water illustration is somewhat better, but it still fails to adequately describe the Trinity. Liquid, vapor, and ice are forms of water. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not forms of God, each of them is God. So, while these illustrations may give us a picture of the Trinity, the picture is not entirely accurate. An infinite God cannot be fully described by a finite illustration.

The doctrine of the Trinity has been a divisive issue throughout the entire history of the Christian church. While the core aspects of the Trinity are clearly presented in God’s Word, some of the side issues are not as explicitly clear. The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God—but there is only one God. That is the biblical doctrine of the Trinity. Beyond that, the issues are, to a certain extent, debatable and non-essential. Rather than attempting to fully define the Trinity with our finite human minds, we would be better served by focusing on the fact of God's greatness and His infinitely higher nature. “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” (Romans 11:33-34).

Both Christian's and non-christian's do not always fully grasp the concept of the Trinity, but honestly, we don't need to....God is....well He's God....we don't Need to understand everything about Him because He is so much more then our feeble minds can comprehend...so Why do some people try to put God in a box? I myself don't fully understand the Trinity but I believe in it because God talks about it....and even though I don't fully understand it I trust God...and that is enough for me....so 1 God = 3 distinct persons....maybe to our feeble minds it doesnt make a whole lot of sense, but God doesnt always have to make sense...sometimes that's why there needs to be faith....I mean we can't fully understand the wind, we can't see the wind....but we have FAITH that it's there because we feel it....I feel God, I trust Him so I don't need to fully understand everything that is God....
anyway I wanted to share that....

Blessings...

True peace: quran or the Bible

Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."

Quran (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."  "People of the Book" refers to Christians and Jews.

Quran (9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness."

Quran (48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves"

okay I'm not trying to come down on Muslims, I DONT hate Muslims, in fact I love muslims, but I am told by them ALL the time that Islam is a peaceful and tollerent religion....please feel free to look up and read these verses in the quran for yourself....the quran is the "holy book" of islam....anyone who follows islam must follow the quran because islam says that it's the word of allah....so please tell me....where in these verses is peace and tollerence for unbelievers taught. in these verses and many others muslims are taught to Fight the unbelievers....they are taught to make jews and christians pay a tax until they are subdued....where is tolerence? where is peace?
Christians are even called the vilest of creatures in Surat Al-Bayyinah 98:6 "Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures."
that certainly doesnt sound tolerent to me....

if you truly want a real peace.....not a religion....but a peaceful lifestyle....then take a look at this....

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; " Matthew 5:44

"“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment." Matthew 22:37-38

"Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us". 1 John 4:7-11.

"God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us". Romans 5:8

"In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might live through him" . 1 John 4:9

if you want true peace, accept the Gift that God has given to us, only that can bring true peace....

while muslims are taught to fight the unbelievers, Christians are taught to Love and Pray for everyone, including unbelievers....

so if you still think that islam is a peaceful and tolerent religion....then please go back and read those verses from the quran.
if you want to find true and lasting peace try asking Father God to reveal it to you.

Blessings on you.

Do Christians believe in three god's?

I have heard this asked many times by muslims, here is the answer to this question.

Answer: If you’re a Muslim, you may think Christians believe in three gods. That idea is as blasphemous to Christians as to you.

There is one God!
Christians believe in one God. In the Holy Bible, God commands, “You shall have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3).

When asked for the greatest command, Jesus responded, “. . . The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:29-30).

The one God exists as three Persons.
The Bible teaches that God is one in essence, three in Person: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-1728:19). Each is fully God. God is not three gods but three in one. Although we cannot completely grasp the tri-unity of God, we must trust His revelation is true.

Is Jesus God’s Son?
The same Jesus who affirmed God’s oneness also said, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30). Jesus’ perfect life, miracles, death, and resurrection proved He was God’s Son in the flesh. We cannot both praise Jesus’ teaching and refute His deity because He claimed to be from and of God (John 1:1-25:18-24). Jesus is either God’s Son or a blasphemer.

The religious leaders of Jesus’ time refused to believe He was the Son of God and so desired to kill Him for blasphemy. “. . . Again the high priest asked him, ‘Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?’ And Jesus said, ‘I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.’ And the high priest tore his garments and said, ‘What further witnesses do we need? You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?’ And they all condemned him as deserving death” (Mark 14:61-64).

What is your decision?
Your beliefs cannot change the truth. Is Jesus the Son of God? If not, He did deserve death for blasphemy, and His bones would be resting in a tomb. But the resurrection proved Jesus divine.

Being God’s Son, why did Jesus die? Death is the punishment for sinners (Romans 6:23). Jesus kept every commandment—even the greatest command to love God.

Have you? Unlike Jesus, not one of us loves God supremely. Even breaking a small command (such as lying, hating, or coveting) disqualifies us from heaven: “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10). We deserve death—eternal separation from God in hell.

But take heart. The Lord Jesus took the punishment for sin when He died on the cross. “[God] made [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). After dying on the cross, Jesus rose from the dead, showing God’s approval of His sacrifice for sin.

The living Lord Jesus can pay for your sin, providing the way to paradise. When Jesus was promising to prepare a place in heaven for His followers, one asked Him for the way to heaven. “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me’” (John 14:6).

You cannot come to the Father on your own because you are a sinner, unable to fix yourself. Trust in Jesus as your Savior from the penalty and power of sin. Turn from your sin and your own way to follow Jesus as the Lord of your life. He is the way, truth, and life!

why good works are not enough to enter Heaven

Question: "Why is being a good person not enough to get you into heaven?"

Answer:
This is the proverbial million dollar question because if you ask anyone on the street what you have to do to get into heaven (assuming they believe in heaven or an after-life), the overwhelming response will be some form of “being a good person.” Most, if not all, religions and worldly philosophies are ethically based. Whether it’s Islam, Judaism, or secular humanism, most believe getting to heaven is a matter of being a good person—following the Ten Commandments, or the precepts found in the Quran, or the Golden Rule. But is this what Christianity teaches? Is Christianity just one of many world religions that teach that being a good person will get us into heaven? Let’s examine one of Jesus’ encounters found in the Gospels to help us get some answers. The story is found in Matthew 19:16-26; it is the story of the rich, young ruler:

The first thing we note in this story is that the rich, young ruler is asking the right question: “What good deed must I do to have eternal life?” In asking the question, he is acknowledging the fact that despite all his efforts thus far, there is something lacking and he wants to know what else must be done to obtain eternal life. However, even though he is asking the right question, he is asking it from the wrong worldview—that of merit (“What good deed must I do...”); he has failed to grasp the true meaning of the Law, as Jesus will point out to him, which was to serve as a tutor until the time of Christ (Galatians 3:24).

The second thing to note is Jesus’ response to his question. Jesus turns the tables by asking him why he is inquiring into what is good. In other words, Jesus is trying to get to the heart of the matter, namely, that no one is good and no one does good except God. As noted earlier, the man is operating under a false premise, that man is able to do that which is good and earn his way into heaven. To prove his point, Jesus says to him that if he wants eternal life, he should keep the commandments. In saying this, Jesus is not advocating for a works righteousness program. Rather, Jesus is challenging his suppositions by showing the man’s shallow understanding of the law and human ability.

The young man’s response is very telling. When told to keep the commandments, he asks Jesus “which ones?” If you or I were in Jesus’ shoes, we might be tempted to say “Um, all of them! What a silly question.” But Jesus continues to gently show the man the error of his ways by giving him the second table of the law, i.e., the commandments that deal with our relationships to other human beings. You can almost sense the frustration in the young man’s response to Jesus when he tells him that he as kept all of these since his youth. Two things to point out here: First, the irony in the young man’s response. In saying he has kept all those commandments since his youth, he has broken the commandment regarding false witness. If he were truly being honest with himself, he would have said that as hard as he has tried to keep the commandments, he fails on a daily basis. He has a shallow understanding of the law and human ability. Second, he still knows deep in his heart of hearts that he is not good enough; even his shallow law-keeping isn’t satisfying his soul. He asks Jesus, “What do I still lack?”

Jesus now delivers the ‘killing’ blow to this man’s self-righteousness. He tells him that if wishes to be perfect (i.e., complete), he must sell all that he has and come follow Him. Jesus has perfectly diagnosed the man’s ‘lack’—his great wealth. The man’s wealth has become an idol in his life, and if truly knew the commandments, he would have known that the very first commandment says that we are to have no other gods before the one, true and living God! This man’s ‘god’ was his wealth. Furthermore, Jesus’ exhortation for the man to follow Him was a command to follow the very Son of God, who himself is God. This young man was a slave to his great wealth. When told to give his wealth away and follow Jesus, he goes away saddened.

Jesus now turns to His disciples to teach them the moral of the story. “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” This was shocking to the disciples, who understood the commonly held idea that riches were a sign of God’s blessing on someone with whom He was well pleased. But Jesus is saying that is impossible for a rich man (or any man) to enter the kingdom of God. His disciples understood this because they ask essentially the same question the rich, young ruler asked, but they ask it from the right perspective: “Who then can be saved?” Jesus answers by saying, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Who can be saved? If left up to man alone, no one! Why is being a good person not enough to get you into heaven? Because no one is a ‘good’ person; there is only one who is good, and that is God himself. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). The Bible also says that the wages of our sin is death (Romans 6:23a). We learn that while we were in our sinful state, Christ died for the unrighteous (Romans 5:8).

Finally, if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved (Romans 10:9). This salvation in Christ is a precious gift and it is nothing that we can earn through our good works (Romans 6:23bEphesians 2:8-9). The message of the gospel is that we can never be good enough to get to heaven. We must recognize the fact that we are sinners who daily fall short of God’s glory, and we must obey the command to repent of our sins and place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, who alone was good enough to earn heaven, and who gives that merit to those who believe in His name.

Christian means...........what?

This question is directed at fellow Christians.....

Am I any LESS of a Christian because I am not going to church right now?

I had a friend ask if I was going to church, I said not at the moment because we dont have a car, so we have no way to get there, he started telling me that its wrong, and that I NEED to be in church...I told him, that true church is in the heart, and he started quoting verses to me, like acts 2, and such....it made me feel like I was less of a Christian then he was, it made me feel judged, so I asked him the same question I posted above....he didnt answer....so here is what I believe....

the word Christian means "Christ-Like" or follower of Christ....
A christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ and has chosen to follow Him. that's basic Christianity....going deeper in what I believe we find...
I believe in the trinity
I believe that the Bible is the only word of God
I believe in the Rapture of the church [comment here if  you want to know more about the Rapture]
I believe in being baptized in the Holy Spirit and the speaking of tounges

the important thing is that we keep Matthew 7:1 "Judge not, lest ye be judged" kjv
this means, DONT judge...dont imply that one believer is any less of a follower of Christ just because they don't go to church....

yes it's good to speak to unbelievers and tell them the truth of what we believe....but we must do that in love....and love does not judge....

anyway God Bless

The Bible: God's Word

When I was growing up, I was raised around the Bible, I went to church, went to sunday school [kids church] and I sat there listening to the Bible being preached....in the back of my mind I did believe it was true...but I never truly accepted it...I never "got saved" as you can say...I listened to the Bible but I didnt' live it....

according to the world's standards I was a good person, I never killed anyone, I went to church on sundays, I was kind, etc....

BUT according to God's standards, I was a very bad person...I've lied before [I dont now, but then I did], I've disrespected my parents [God's law says we need to honor our father and our mother], I stole once [God's Law says Do not steal], it even goes so far as Matthew 5:27-28 says "You have heard the commandment that says 'you must not commit adultry.' But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman [or man, women are not exempt from this] with lust [lust definition: Intense or unrestrained sexual craving] has already commited adultry with her in his heart." ok I admit, I used to look at guys with lust, so I am guilty of this....so according to God's standards, I'm a lying, thief and an adultuer at heart who disrespects her  parents....now since God cannot stand to be around sin AT ALL....according to His law I would not be going to heaven....He says that "ALL have sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard" [Romans 3:23]
BUT....since God still loves me, He made a way for me to still come to Him....John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that EVERYONE who believes in Him will not perish [meaning, go to hell] but they will have eternal life" and Romans 6:23 says "for the wages [the price] of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus" when I found out that in God's eyes, even though He loved me I was a very bad person....but my story doesnt stop there....I also discovered God's Gift of eternal life that He promises to all who ask....so I asked....He made me a new person as 2 corinthians 5:17 says "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." So God changed my life, I stopped lying, I respected my parents, etc etc etc....I'm not perfect, because no one can ever be perfect accept God....but God saved me, and He did it through the Bible....His Word....and so these reasons below and my own personal reasons are why I believe in the Bible...

The Bible Is The Word Of God
The Bible is a Divine Revelation. In the Bible we find out what God wants mankind to know about Himself and His plan.
The Bible is the only written revelation of God to man.
No one has ever successfully refuted the Bible. Many mock the Bible but avoid challenging it point by point. No one who has done in-depth research, honestly examining the evidence for the Bible's inspiration and truthfulness, has been able to disprove the Bible.
History records many who set out to disprove the Bible, who instead became believers.

One Mind Behind The Bible
Our Bible is composed of 66 books, by about 40 different writers of various backgrounds, living during a period of about 1,600 years -- yet they present one message. Such a miracle can only be explained by there being one divine Author, who was in control of all these human writers.
The Bible writers came from many walks of life, including kings, peasants, philosophers, fishermen, herdsmen, poets, statesmen, scholars, soldiers, priests, prophets, a tax collector, a tentmaking rabbi, and a Gentile doctor.
The Bible was written in three different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
The writings contained in the Bible belong to a great variety of literary types including history, law, poetry, educational discourses, parables, biography, personal correspondence, and prophecy.
Books written by men have no unity of thought on even one subject. Some of them invariably disagree with others. But there is perfect unity between the books of the Bible -- which speak of hundreds of subjects in many fields. There is no contradiction among them.
Who but God could produce such a book?

Supernatural Origin
Some of the Bible writers recorded their own sins which brought them into disgrace. Many times their lives and worldly interests were imperiled because of what they wrote. Human nature causes people to do the opposite.
The writers claim a supernatural origin for their writings. Nearly 4,000 times expressions like "Thus says the Lord," "The word of the Lord came unto me," etc., are recorded in the Bible.
If the Bible is not God's Word, then the Bible is full of lies. Could a book so filled with lies cause millions of people to turn from their sins -- including lying?

Witness Of Fulfilled Prophecies
Hundreds of prophecies of future events were recorded in the Bible -- some of them centuries before fulfillment -- and not one detail of any of them has ever failed!
No other "religious book" foretells the future.
No one can refute the Bible's accurate prediction of future events with facts. All they can do is try to get you to ignore these marvelous facts.
Could man -- especially dozens of men, writing in different countries and different times -- foretell the future so accurately? Never! Only God could do such a tremendous thing.
No one but God could reveal the future in such detail, often hundreds of years before the events occurred. Not only the future of cities, nations, and the world, but also concerning the future birth, ministry, death, and resurrection of Christ.

Prophecies Concerning Christ
The Old Testament, written over a 1,000 year period, contains several hundred references to the coming Messiah -- all of which were fulfilled exactly in Jesus Christ.
The chance that all these predictions could come true exactly as written is beyond most human's comprehension, giving to any honest enquirer undeniable proof that God inspired the writing of the prophecies in the Bible.
1 PETER 1:11 NKJ
11 . . . He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
LUKE 24:44 NKJ
44 . . . all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me."
JOHN 5:39,46 NKJ
39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
46 "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.
The story of Jesus Christ is also woven into the Old Testament through types, symbols, and ceremonies. All the Bible points to Jesus Christ.
The biography of the patriarchs, the construction of the tabernacle and the temple, the services, the sacrifices, and the ceremonies, as well as other types and shadows -- all foreshadow Jesus Christ.

Witness Of Jesus
Any honest person who studies the historical evidence will conclude that Jesus Christ rose from death -- giving Him unique status. Jesus acknowledged the Old Testament, which was all of the Bible written at that time, as the Word of God.
MATTHEW 5:18 NKJ
18 "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
The Bible bears the seal of Jesus' authority. He quoted the Old Testament dozens of times and referred to it as the Word of God.
For example, in Matthew 22:32, Jesus quotes from Exodus 3:6 and 15.
MATTHEW 22:29,31-32 NKJ
29 Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.
31 "But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying,
32 `I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

Witness Of Bible Working For People
Millions have acted on the Bible's commands and have testified to receiving its promises. Probably someone living near you has such a testimony.
That the Bible message works for people -- in all places and all times -- is a proof that the same One who created us, and all things, is the Author of the Bible. Only the manufacturer knows what to write in the product handbook to make his product function properly.

Witness Of Changed Lives
Millions of individuals, as well as nations, have been changed for the better when they have accepted the Bible as the Word of God.
More people on Earth today believe in Jesus Christ and the Bible as the Word of God than any other creed or philosophy.
These millions of people have proved the claims of the Bible when its conditions were met.
Wherever the Bible is accepted people are lifted up to a higher plane of life.
The Bible message has changed the vilest sinners into the most loving saints. No other message ever has done that.
Individuals, and even whole societies, have been transformed wherever the Bible has been believed and obeyed. The Bible's fruits have always been good and wholesome. Neglect of the Bible has always meant sin, suffering, and sorrow.

Witness of Archeology
The Bible is historically correct. No one has ever proved otherwise.
The more we learn of history, the more the Bible is validated.
Hundreds of statements in the Bible, which in times past have been held untrue by enemies of the Bible, have recently been proven true by archaeologists. The more that archaeologists find from the past, the more the Bible is proven accurate historically.
No archaeological discovery has ever disproved a biblical reference. The Bible is trustworthy and historically reliable.

Bible Is Scientifically Correct
Some scientists would not agree that the Bible is correct -- but none can prove the Bible wrong. And there are many, many scientists who acknowledge that the Bible is scientifically correct.
Man has taken many centuries to discover many things the Bible stated thousands of years ago. Where did the writers of the Bible get their information -- if not from God?

Never Out-Of-Date
Although written hundreds of years ago, the Bible remains the most up-to-date book available today.
Books on every subject have to be replaced because they become out-of-date so quickly. But the Bible has never had to be revised.
(Only translations of the Bible from the original languages have been revised to reflect current language usage.)
PSALM 89:34 NKJ
34 My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
PSALM 119:89 NKJ
89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.
The Bible has been the best-selling book because it universally speaks to the heart of people, and gives them the message of God.
HEBREWS 4:12 NKJ
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Bible is relevant to every person, in every culture, in every age, because the Bible is a living message -- which could only be authored by God.

Contrary To Human Thinking
The Bible is completely unlike a book which humans would write. The Bible condemns all mankind -- including the writers -- and teaches there is no way they can be saved except by accepting a gift -- the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches salvation through grace and not works, self-exaltation through self-abasement, finding your life by losing your life, the way to become great is by being a servant of all -- and other things opposite to human thought. People would not have written such things contrary to their nature, on their own.
The Bible deals frankly with the sins of its characters. People making things up try to make themselves look good. The Bible tells their stories realistically, with all their shortcomings.

Highest Moral Standards
The moral standards of the Bible are the highest known to man. They are impossible for man to achieve without divine help. Man would never set such unreachable standards for himself.
MATTHEW 5:44,48 NKJ
44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
48 "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
MATTHEW 18:21-22 NKJ
21 Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?"
22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Divinely Inspired
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
By the inspiration of the Scriptures we mean that "special divine influence on the minds of the writers of the Bible, in virtue of which their production, apart from errors in transcription, and when rightly interpreted, together constitute an infallible rule of faith and practice."
2 TIMOTHY 3:16 NKJ
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
The above phrase, given by inspiration of God, translates a single Greek word. Literally the word means God-breathed. The words divinely inspired have probably the nearest English equivalent meaning.
God breathed into man what man breathed out.
2 PETER 1:20-21 NIV
20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.
21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 PETER 1:21 NEB
21 For it was not through any human whim that men prophesied of old; men they were, but, impelled by the Holy Spirit, they spoke the words of God.
HEBREWS 1:1 NKJ
1 God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets.
1 THESSALONIANS 2:13 NKJ
13 . . . when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

Truly Recorded
Although everything in the Bible is truly recorded, everything said in the Bible is not the truth.
For example, the Bible contains statements made by the devil and those who were against God. The statements they made are not necessarily true, but they truly said the statements as recorded.
So, we can trust the Bible -- all of it -- as God's message to us.

Purpose Of Bible
The purpose of the Bible is to reveal God to mankind, and get us to come to God through Jesus Christ, so we can know Him.
JOHN 1:1,14 NKJ
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father . . . .
LUKE 24:27 NKJ
27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
JOHN 20:31 NKJ
31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
Read the Bible yourself, and ask God to reveal Himself and His will to you.

How can we recognize the Voice of God?

Question: "How can we recognize the voice of God?"

Answer:
This question has been asked by countless people throughout the ages. Samuel heard the voice of God, but did not recognize it until he was instructed by Eli (1 Samuel 3:1-10). Gideon had a physical revelation from God, and he still doubted what he had heard to the point of asking for a sign, not once, but three times (Judges 6:17-2236-40). When we are listening for God's voice, how can we know that He is the one speaking? First of all, we have something that Gideon and Samuel did not. We have the complete Bible, the inspired Word of God, to read, study, and meditate on. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). When we have a question about a certain topic or decision in our lives, we should see what the Bible has to say about it. God will never lead us or direct us contrary to what He has taught or promised in His Word (Titus 1:2).

Second, to hear God's voice we must recognize it. Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). Those who hear God’s voice are those who belong to Him—those who have been saved by His grace through faith in the Lord Jesus. These are the sheep who hear and recognize His voice, because they know Him as their Shepherd and they know His voice. If we are to recognize God's voice, we must belong to Him.

Third, we hear His voice when we spend time in prayer, Bible study, and quiet contemplation of His Word. The more time we spend intimately with God and His Word, the easier it is to recognize His voice and His leading in our lives. Employees at a bank are trained to recognize counterfeits by studying genuine money so closely that it is easy to spot a fake. We should be so familiar with God’s Word that when God does speak to us or lead us, it is clear that it is God. God speaks to us so that we may understand truth. While God can speak audibly to people, He speaks primarily through His Word, and sometimes through the Holy Spirit to our consciences, through circumstances, and through other people. By applying what we hear to the truth of Scripture, we can learn to recognize His voice.
