what is true love? how do you truly love someone?

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (the message)

   Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
   Love doesn't strut,
   Doesn't have a swelled head,
   Doesn't force itself on others,
   Isn't always "me first,"
   Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
   Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
   Puts up with anything,
   Trusts God always,
   Always looks for the best,
   Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (new living translation)
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

~~
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (amplified bible)

4Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].

Here I posted three different versions of this verse so you can see the meaning of it....
this is the example of True Love. if you want to love someone, love them like this....
there is a catch though...the only way to truly love another person like this is to first gain a true relationship with God (by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior) because only God can create this type of love in a person, because honestly we are all jealous, prideful, rude, etc etc etc, it is all apart of our sinful nature. but when we accept Jesus into our life as Lord and Savior; a change starts to take place in our hearts and He starts changing us from the inside out if we let Him, once He starts doing that we are better able to love others the way we need to, the selfless, unconditional, pure, passionate love the same kind of love that God shows us.

when people stop focusing on lust so much ( if your married then yes sex is apart of that relationship, but putting it at the top of a relationship is not healthy, there are other more important things) and start focusing on pure selfless love, giving to your partner without expecting anything back, and if your partner does the same then you would have the most AMAZING marriage EVER....

So if you want an amazing marriage or relationship, focus on a true relationship with God (through Jesus Christ) and allow Him to teach you how to love like this.

God Bless

How Are you defined?

hmmmm, I know this isnt my usual type of post but I've been really feeling this subject being laid on my heart and so I needed to share, if you'r trying to define yourself, please read on...

the insane ramblings of.......Me.....

do I even know who....I....Am?

right now I can define myself by a lot of different things....

Mother....

Sister....

Friend....

Wife.....

But who am I?

I never really had a lot of time to really find out the answer to those questions, I've spent so much time focusing on those definitions that I never really defined Me.

I mean I could be the Writer....

the Photographer....

the Fat Girl.....[it's mean, but it's true, I'm overweight and thats how I sometimes feel]

the Nerd....

the Godly Teacher [I had someone call me that yesterday because I explained the Ten Commandments and Jesus' commandments to us to someone]

Who are you?

the Religious nut....[I've been called that before]

the Jock....

Preppy.....

the Skinny girl.....

the Ugly guy...
when I really sit and think about it, like I'm doing right now, I remember....I'm not really supposed to define myself....God is....Other people should not define us....Jesus should...

So.....let's see....Who are we in Jesus' eyes?

Who I am in Christ

Because you are in Christ, every one of these statements is true of you.
  • I am loved 1John 3:3
  • I am accepted Ephesians 1:6
  • I am a child of God John 1:12
  • I am Jesus' friend John 15:14
  • I am a joint heir with Jesus, sharing His inheritance with Him Romans 8:17
  • I am united with God and one spirit with Him 1Corinthians 6:17
  • I am a temple of God. His spirit and his life live in me 1 Corinthians 6:19
  • I am a member of Christ's body. 1 Corinthians 12:27

  • I am chosen of God, holy and dearly loved Colossians 3:12
  • I am established, anointed, and sealed by God 2Corinthians 1:21
  • I do not have a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind 2Timothy 1:7
  • I am God's co-worker 2Corinthians 6:1
  • I am seated in heavenly places with Christ Eph 2:6
  • I have direct access to God Ephesians 2:18
  • I am chosen to bear fruit John 15:16
  • I am one of God's living stones, being built up in Christ as a spiritual house 1 Peter 2:5
  • I have been given exceedingly great and precious promises by God by which I share His nature 2 Peter 1:4
  • I can always know the presence of God because He never leaves me Hebrews 13:5
  • God works in me to help me do the things He wants me to do Philippians 2:13
  • I can ask God for wisdom and He will give me what I need James 1:5
  • I am Beautiful.
  • I am Beloved
  • I am Wanted
  • I am Worth it

I found this and I think it's amazing, this is how God see's me, this is how God see's you. true the world may not see us this way, but God is bigger.
So something we need to keep reminding ourselves about is....The World shouldn't define us....God Should....

thanks for taking this journey with me as I discover myself once again, I am a New Creation, I hope you were as blessed by this thought as I was.

Who is God

[please note, if you want to read the verses attached to this post please feel free to click on them, thank you, God Bless]

Question: "Who is God?"

Answer:
Who is God? What is God? How can we know God?

Who is God? - The Fact
The fact of God’s existence is so conspicuous, both through creation and through man’s conscience, that the Bible calls the atheist a “fool” (Psalm 14:1). Accordingly, the Bible never attempts to prove the existence of God; rather, it assumes His existence from the very beginning (Genesis 1:1). What the Bible does is reveal the nature, character, and work of God.

Who is God? - The Definition
Thinking correctly about God is of utmost importance because a false idea about God is idolatry. InPsalm 50:21, God reproves the wicked man with this accusation: “You thought I was altogether like you.” To start with, a good summary definition of God is “the Supreme Being; the Creator and Ruler of all that is; the Self-existent One who is perfect in power, goodness, and wisdom.”

Who is God? - His Nature
We know certain things to be true of God for one reason: in His mercy He has condescended to reveal some of His qualities to us. God is spirit, by nature intangible (John 4:24). God is One, but He exists as three Persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17). God is infinite (1 Timothy 1:17), incomparable (2 Samuel 7:22), and unchanging (Malachi 3:6). God exists everywhere (Psalm 139:7-12), knows everything (Matthew 11:21), and has all power and authority (Ephesians 1; Revelation 19:6).

Who is God? - His Character
Here are some of God’s characteristics as revealed in the Bible: God is just (Acts 17:31), loving (Ephesians 2:4-5), truthful (John 14:6), and holy (1 John 1:5). God shows compassion (2 Corinthians 1:3), mercy (Romans 9:15), and grace (Romans 5:17). God judges sin (Psalm 5:5) but also offers forgiveness (Psalm 130:4).

Who is God? - His Work
We cannot understand God apart from His works, because what God does flows from who He is. Here is an abbreviated list of God’s works, past, present, and future: God created the world (Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 42:5); He actively sustains the world (Colossians 1:17); He is executing His eternal plan (Ephesians 1:11) which involves the redemption of man from the curse of sin and death (Galatians 3:13-14); He draws people to Christ (John 6:44); He disciplines His children (Hebrews 12:6); and He will judge the world (Revelation 20:11-15).

Who is God? - A Relationship with Him
In the Person of the Son, God became incarnate (John 1:14). The Son of God became the Son of Man and is therefore the “bridge” between God and man (John 14:6; 1 Timothy 2:5). It is only through the Son that we can have forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7), reconciliation with God (John 15:15; Romans 5:10), and eternal salvation (2 Timothy 2:10). In Jesus Christ “all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). So, to really know who God is, all we have to do is look at Jesus.
